Creating A Dream Home with my Favourite Rooms On Instagram

Creating A Dream Home with my Favourite Rooms On Instagram

Don't get me wrong, I love our house and I know we are very lucky to have such a wonderful home. But, part of having a huge passion for interiors means I love to get regular interior inspiration and this mainly comes from looking at other people's homes. Along with Pinterest and reading my monthly copy of Living Etc, Instagram is the perfect source of inspiration for this.

It's funny really when you think about it, putting your home on Instagram for people to, let's face it, snoop at. One of my favourite things to do when I have free time is to sit and scroll my Instagram feed and swoon over gorgeous living rooms, stunning kitchens and fancy boudoirs. It never gets old for me and even though I have our lovely home, that I regularly post about on this blog and my Instagram feed, it doesn't stop me sometimes wishing I had someone else's living room or kitchen. It's like when you have a new coat but you see someone else's coat and even though you love your new coat, you want theirs too. We are always going to lust after what we can't have and that's just part of the fun of being inspired by things - you've always got to have goals to aspire to!

So, I thought it would be a nice idea to share some Instagram love and I've decided to create what would be my dream home using each of my favourite rooms on Instagram. This was a hard decision process as there are so many rooms I love but these are my current favourite spaces from the feeds that I follow and love.

THE LOUNGE: GOLD IS A NEUTRAL

Instagram: (@gold_is_a_neutral)

Jess, who runs the blog and Instagram 'Gold Is A Neutral' has great taste. We regularly chat on Instagram and even though we're yet to meet, I just know we'd get on well! Her living room is one of my favourites on Instagram and here's why - Jonathan Adler wallpaper (which I'm informed is the only place in the UK to have this wallpaper!), velvet sofas, a brass bar cart, dark walls and gorgeous shutters. It's a dream space to relax in and I love all of the period features mixed with modern styling. A girl after my own heart.

THE KITCHEN: PEARL LOWE

Instagram: @pearllowe

What is not to love about Pearl Lowe's kitchen. If you're not familiar with her home then you must check it out as there is some serious swooning to be done over every room. I actually only recently came across her home in an issue of Living Etc and have been lusting over her Instagram ever since. Her kitchen stood out the most to me though in her home. I just love the detail in this room - the units painted in two colours, the marble worktop, the metro tiles, the mismatched bar stools, the gallery wall, the display cupboard of vintage crockery and the brass taps. It's a wonderful space and the perfect room to entertain in.

THE DINING ROOM: BLACK LION HOUSE

Instagram: @blacklionhouse

When I first saw this room, I was in love. What. A. Space. I love rooms that are completely unique and this is one of them. The windows in the ceiling add so much lovely light and I love the fact the kitchen has a bar frontage! The parquet floor, panelled walls, Eames chairs, cool artwork and retro furniture create such a stylish and interesting space. Like us, their house is also a location house so you can actually hire it yourself and sit in that very dining room!

THE DOWNSTAIRS LOO: COME DOWN TO THE WOODS

Instagram: @comedowntothewoods

I've very luckily been to visit this house in the flesh and I don't want to be crude, but I've actually sat on this exact loo. Katie's house is so, so cool and there are details everywhere you look. Her downstairs loo is no exception and I love the Marrakech Design tiled floor and Tom Dixon wall lights and the fact she's made this room a bit of a homage to the fact the house used to be almost entirely peach when she bought it. The nod to 'The Peach Palace', as she calls it, with the peach wallpaper and peach neon sign by Bag & Bones alongside the original sink, work so well with the dark walls.

THE HALLWAY: ERICA DAVIES

Instagram: @erica_davies

Erica is a lover of pattern, colour and all things tropical like myself and she has lots of great rooms in her home but my favourite has to be her wow factor hallway. I love this green Roger Oates stair runner mixed with Bert & May tiles and a cool Tom Dixon pendant and her banana leaf covered chairs are just amazing! I feel a hallway should really give an instant insight into your home and Erica's hallway does just that!

THE BEDROOM: HOUSE CURIOUS

Instagram: @housecurious

House Curious have an INCREDIBLE house. If I had to choose just one house that I could live in exactly how it is, it would be this one. Every room is styled to perfection and it is literally, a dream home. The bedroom is one of my favourite rooms and I just love the calming colours with soft textures and brass detailing. I am a big bath fan so imagine having this beauty at the bottom of your room so you can have a nice long soak then get straight into bed. I have huge interior envy with this house and I just had to also share a picture of their home bar below - I mean, serious house goals!

THE BATHROOM: DESIGN SODA RUTHIE & THE FRUGALITY

Instagram: @design_soda_ruthie / @thefrugality

It was a hard choice when it came to bathrooms and I had to go with two that are similar in style and have some of the things I love in a bathroom - dark walls, patterned tiles, brass taps and cool accessories. I've admired both of these bathrooms on Instagram for a while now and Ruth's gorgeous bathroom, with her through the mirror shot, is a pretty well known image on Pinterest! And I'm sure you can see why!

Alex from The Frugality has been renovating her house for the last year and this bathroom was the first room they completed in their house. She has great taste and the rest of the house is shaping up to be just as stylish - it has such amazing period features which are being combined with modern style.

THE OFFICE - LUST LIVING

Instagram: @lustliving

As you may all know, I work from home and as much as I love my copper office space, which you can see here, I really love the monochrome and gold space that Olivia has created with her home office. A home office is such an important space and I really believe it has to be a room you want to spend time in to work efficiently. Olivia has created such a perfect space here - the dalmatian wall mural creates such a great feature wall and it's enhanced perfectly with the brass details, cool calendar and greenery. I am in love with that Cult Furniture chair too.

THE SNUG: FRENCH FOR PINEAPPLE

Instagram: @frenchforpineapple

I have loved this space that Bianca from French For Pineapple created for a while. The colours of grey and blue work so well in a relaxing space and it looks like such a great spot to curl up and watch TV or read a book in. The House of Hackney cushions, the fringed rug, the fiddle leaf fig and that cool neon sign; Bianca is a lady with impeccable taste.

THE OUTDOOR SPACE: LISA DAWSON & MELANIE LISSACK INTERIORS

Instagram: @_lisa_dawson_styling_ / @melanielissackinteriors

For me, an outdoor space has to be a bit of a tropical oasis and I like how both Lisa and Melanie have created this in a courtyard and on a balcony. I've long admired Lisa's courtyard and I've always thought it's the perfect spot for some outdoor entertaining. The fact she has an outdoor bar is so cool!

Melanie created this amazing balcony space earlier this year and I just love all of the detail and the colours of pink and green. Melanie is the DIY queen and she handmade a lot of this herself such as the wall planters and the cool gold log table. It's the perfect spot for a glass of wine and a good book.

Let me know what you think and if you have any rooms on Instagram that you lust after! All of these accounts are worth giving a follow if you're not already following them. Now, I'm off to faff in my own house...
