THE NADLER HOTEL: SOHO, LONDON

28/06/16

By Beth

I regularly visit London for work and often stay overnight in hotels. Back in June, I enjoyed one of my favourite London hotel stays so far at The Nadler Hotel in Soho.

The Nadler is a hotel group which have has three locations in London in Soho, Kensington, and lastly and opening most recently, Victoria. I stayed overnight in the Soho branch, which has a perfect central London location close to Soho Square.

I arrived late afternoon and was warmly greeted in the hotel’s large modern reception by friendly staff who swiftly checked me in for the night. My room was a Superior level room, which featured a king size bed in the middle with a desk and wall-mounted TV opposite, a soft leather armchair in the corner and a good sized bathroom with bath and shower.

The room also contained a mini kitchen area with microwave, fridge, Nespresso machine, Brita water filter tap and a cupboard with plates, bowls and cutlery. The Nadler hotels don’t have restaurants or bars and because of this are able to keep their hotel rates low whilst still offering high-spec rooms and suites. Double rooms at the hotel start at £200 per room per night with 25% discounts offered if booked 45 days before travelling and 15% five days before, which are not bad rates for central London hotels.

Now, I can see how this could put some customers off who like to use a hotel restaurant and bar, especially those travelling alone. But for me what The Nadler hotel offers far outweighs having a hotel restaurant and bar or even room service, as you are able to order Deliveroo takeaway from a huge array of local London restaurants, as part of the hotel’s exceptional in-room guest directory without any mark-up from the hotel. The Soho branch also enables you to order breakfast to be delivered from local bakery and deli Princi, so your breakfast needs are covered if you so wish them to be.

The hotel have put together a fantastic guest directory which lists nearby local amenities and exclusive offers, a music library, web radio, internet, news, weather, and of course Deliveroo, along with a list of local restaurants that deliver. Even though there isn’t room service available, you are able to order drinks to the room such as wine, beer etc. The whole guest service is by far the best I’ve ever seen in a hotel and I was very excited to be getting dinner delivered to my room later that night!

After an afternoon of work emails, lounging on the comfy bed using the in-room complimentary wi-fi and then enjoying a relaxing bath, I was ready to welcome my friend who was staying with me for the night. As soon as she arrived, we got on with the important job in hand – ordering dinner! The great thing about Deliveroo is that you can order from more than one restaurant, so as my friend is Vegan, she chose lots of dishes from a local Vegan restaurant and I ordered a Chicken Pad Thai, Edamame and Prawn Gyoza and a Green Juice from the nearby Soho Wagamama branch.

We got settled for the evening and had just poured a glass of the complimentary red wine each that was left in our room, when reception called us to inform us that our Deliveroo orders were being brought up to our rooms by one of the hotel staff. It was such an easy system and perfect if you wanted to just relax in your hotel room, which is so often not the case and is something you more often than not barely get to spend time in.

The next day we woke after a great nights sleep and after showering, received a call from reception to let us know our breakfast was on the way up to us. We had ordered juices, yogurt, fruit and baguettes and enjoyed them along with a Nespresso coffee from our in-room kitchen.

I was sad to check out of The Nadler after my overnight stay. The staff are efficient and friendly and there if you need them but there is also a feeling that you are away from home and are free to be left to your own devices, which I liked. The in-room dining service is one I think more hotels should offer and if they do, then they should shout about it more as The Nadler does. It was a completely relaxing and content stay and I am definitely going to return for another visit. Thank you The Nadler for your modern hotel approach – I loved it!
