HOTEL DU PETIT MOULIN: PARIS

13/08/18

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT:

  • The unique and individually styled bedrooms

  • To stay in an old bakery

  • The perfect location in La Marais

  • Many great eating and drinking spots are nearby

DESTINATION:

I’ve been to Paris a few times and La Marais is one of my favourite areas. I love the winding streets filled with beautiful buildings, housing cute shops and cafes, and you always come across somewhere new when exploring.

Hotel du Petit Moulin is situated in La Marais but it’s located on a quiet street, so that you’re close by but also far enough away when you venture back to your hotel room for a peaceful relax.

DECOR:

The hotel, which is housed in Paris’ first bakery (it even has a ‘Boulangerie’ shop front), has been designed by Christian Lacroix and each of the 16 rooms and 1 suite are wonderfully different from one another but still work together to create a completely unique space. The hotel is bold and eclectic in its decor, which could be over the top for some, but for me it was love at first sight!

We were staying in a Deluxe Room and it did not disappoint. The bedroom’s moon and star mural behind the bed was mixed with country chic wallpaper, next to retro inspired orange chairs alongside a vintage victorian style bathroom - the whole room crossing decades of style.

As Paris is a city where you do a lot of walking, I was really pleased there was a lovely big freestanding bath and couldn’t wait to take a nice long soak in it.

The communal areas of the hotel, the reception and breakfast room, were equally fun in their decor and you get a feel of the style of the hotel as soon as you walk through the front door.

DINING:

With such a lovely room, we chose to have breakfast in bed during our stay rather than in the breakfast room. We were sent up a continental breakfast of pastries and jams, cheese, yoghurt and fruit, along with tea and fresh orange juice, and it was a lovely treat for our last morning in Paris.

There are lots of restaurants and bars nearby to the hotel and some of the places we visited and enjoyed were Candelaria (for tacos and tequila cocktails), Big Love (for pizza and pasta) and Grand Cafe Tortoni (for coffee). I didn’t get to visit Popelini (for cakes) but that is also nearby.

DEBRIEF:

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel du Petit Moulin and it was in a perfect location for exploring La Marais. The decor was fabulous and perfect for anyone with eclectic tastes!
