VILLAGE EAST: LONDON

...WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT:

  • To enjoy the industrial meets country interiors
  • For the ultimate start to the day with a great breakfast
  • The friendly and polite service
  • To take in the history of the building as an old textile factory

SE1 is a truly vibrant area with interesting squares and stunning streets mixed with railway tracks and developed Tea Factories. Cobbled streets are hidden through the adjoining walkways and it was on one such cobbled street that I discovered Village East, an all-day restaurant in a former textile factory.

Village East has created another fantastic place to eat and spend time in in London. Along with its beautiful interiors and honest food, the service is wonderful and friendly. Eating here is a relaxed treat to be enjoyed with friends, at one of their generous tables or sat intimately at their seated bar.

During my visit on a sunny morning in June, I enjoyed a simple and perfectly executed breakfast from their new weekday breakfast menu. Everything on the menu looked delicious, in particular the veggie breakfast – potato croquettes are a guilty pleasure of mine! Deciding to be a little healthier, I opted for the Organic Porridge Oats with Soy Milk accompanied with Banana, Muscavado and Allspice.

I loved this breakfast and all the ingredients came out for you to assemble yourself, which was fun. I sat there happily adding banana and allspice at different intervals as I chatted. The dish was comforting, light and filling and a wonderful start to the day.

Along with my porridge I enjoyed a Fresh Juice, made from Coconut Water, Apple Juice and Lime, which was aptly named The Cooler. Breakfast was finished off with an AllPress Roasted Soy Flat White, which was happily delivered by our waiter who I decided was the ultimate morning person - he smiled, patiently explained the menu and made our morning start in the best possible way.

I felt really welcome at Village East that bright sunny morning and am already looking for an excuse to return for dinner to experience their seated bar.
